Suicide Research Interest Group

Research area:
Suicide

Head: Kapusta Nestor D., Assoc. Prof. Priv.-Doz. Dr.

Description:

The Suicide Research Interest Group in the Medical Neuroscience Cluster adopts an interdisciplinary approach to the various factors associated with suicidal and self-injurious behaviors. By bridging gaps between different medical disciplines, we aim to join our efforts and collaboratively strengthen the long tradition of Suicide Research at the Medical University of Vienna. Given the complexity of suicidal and self-injurious behavior and the well-known interplay of neurobiological, social, cultural and psychological factors, we are convinced that suicide research is strongly dependent on a vivid exchange between basic, clinical, epidemiological and public health approaches, as well as quantitative and qualitative methods. The interest group is open to collaborators who are committed to regular exchange and discussion meetings of current and future research projects and is well embedded into the international suicide research community.
