In this presentation I will give an overview of a grant-funded project that aims to develop a treatment technique for low risk prostate cancer patients. The technique involves implantation of around 50 radioactive seeds to produce a radiation dose pattern that matches the distribution of tumour cells within the prostate. In addition the actual radiation dose is tailored to the tumour characteristics. The project has involved development of functional MRI protocols and techniques for histology preparation and analysis to identify tumour characteristics in the MRI data.
